Find out how to request access to information from OTSI.
What is Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009?
The Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) aims to make it easier for the public to access government information. The GIPA Act promotes transparency and encourages the proactive disclosure and timely release of government information unless there is an overriding public interest against disclosure.
Accessing information
1. Search on this website
We try to release as much government information as possible, through our website or by request to info@otsi.nsw.gov.au.
Under the GIPA Act, certain information is required by law to be available on our website, free of charge. This is called "open access information" and includes:
- Agency Information Guide
- Disclosure Log
- Documents tabled in Parliament
- Government Contracts with private sector
- Statement of Corporate intent - Annual Reports
- Policies
- Published safety investigation reports
Check the links above to see if the information you are looking for is already publicly available.
2. Make a formal access application
If the information you are seeking is not available on this website and is not otherwise routinely provided by OTSI on request, then you have a right to formally apply for access to specific information.
Applications and enquiries to OTSI under the GIPA Act can be sent, lodged or emailed to:
Information Officer
Office of Transport Safety Investigations
