An articulated bus 2169ST was operating a scheduled route on Parramatta Road, Camperdown, when the bus driver observed heavy grey smoke emitting from the rear of the bus. The driver and nine passengers safely evacuated the bus and the smoke continued until flames were visible. The fire continued to spread through the engine bay and exterior of the bus. Emergency services attended extinguishing the fire. There were no injuries reported and the bus was extensively damaged by the fire.

The final investigation report will be provided to the Minister for tabling in both Houses of the NSW Parliament in accordance with section 46D of the Passenger Transport Act 1990. The Minister is required to table the report within seven days of receiving it.
Following tabling, the report is published on the OTSI website and information on the safety lessons promoted to relevant stakeholders. The published report will replace this Interim Factual Statement.
